“Bursa Textile Show” Exhibition, which is led by Bursa Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BTSO) and which will strengthen the exportation of the textile sector, opened its gates for the first time. Within the framework of Production Development and Commercial Safari Projects, approximately 350 business people from over 40 different countries will be joining the exhibition which will last for 3 days.

BTSO, continues with its exportation move which will liven up the sector in Bursa, a.k.a. the textile capital of Turkey. The exhibition organized with the contribution of Uludag Textile Exporters’ Association will host its visitors till 16th of November at Merinos AKKM (Atatürk Congress Culture Center). BTSO’s President of the Board of Directors İbrahim Burkay who spoke at the opening ceremony of the exhibition, stated that 4 different procurement committee programs were held within the scope of Textile Production Development Project.

BTSO’s President of the Board of Directors İbrahim Burkay expressed that Bursa was one of the most important brand cities of the textile sector in Turkey. Burkay, underlined that they kept carrying into effect macro projects which would increase the foreign trade volume of the companies, and added that more than 350 business people from over 40 countries joined the exhibition. President Burkay, stated that nearly 90 firms opened stands at the exhibition which will accelerate the business volume of the textile sector. Burkay added that: “Our organizations which were in the form of procurement committee before, gained the identity of exhibition for the first time this year. As the business world we will continue to be there for our firms with the vision of “Bursa grows, Turkey grows”.

President Burkay remarked: “With the contribution of our macro projects, Bursa has gained nearly 1000 exporting firms.”  And he added: “Bursa Textile Show Exhibition will dynamize our sector and significantly contribute to the globalization of our firms. Important buyers mainly from EU countries and also South America and North Africa also joined the exhibition. The purchasing team of our domestic brands will also meet with the firms of Bursa. Our exhibition which will carry Bursa’s power in the textile sector into the future has been a nice beginning. Hopefully our exhibition will bring good fortune both to our sector and to our city.”

The Governor of Bursa, Yakup Canbolat stated that Turkey was the biggest textile production center of Europe and was the world’s 7th biggest supplier in the category of textile exportation. He added that the sector itself had massively improved along with the developing and growing Turkey in the last 20 years. Canbolat, underlining that textile sector is one of the most important sectors of the Turkish economy, said: “Textile exportation throughout Turkey has reached 7 billion dollars with a 6% increase in the January – October period of this year. It is important to keep in mind that Bursa which is the capital of textile has contributed massively to these indicators. The textile sector of Bursa has an ancient history. Bursa, which is one of the most important stations of Silkroad, still holds on to that ancient tradition under the most modern circumstances. I wish for our exhibition to bring good fortune both to our sector and to our city and I thank everyone who has contributed to it.”

The Mayor of Bursa Alinur Aktaş expressed that Bursa Textile Show Exhibition was a very important organization which supported the motto of “Bursa Grows, Turkey Grows” and added: “Bursa holds an important position in the field of fashion textile in the global market. It presents quality, design and innovation focused products to the leaders of the global market. I believe and hope that this organization will be one of the main stages to support this. BTSO and the valuable business people are putting in their best effort to increase the volume of their pie so to speak.”

Uludag Textile Exporters’ Association’s Chairman of the Board Pınar Taşdelen Engin stated that Bursa had contributed significantly to Turkey’s textile sector and said: “We have a textile sector which conducts 2 billion dollars of exportation annually all over Bursa, and to more than 160 countries. This exportation is of quality above world standards. We export with a value of 9,8 dollars per kilo, contributing significantly to our economy. Members of our association also took their place at this exhibition today. I believe wholeheartedly that the exhibition will be a success and I wish for it to bring good fortune for everyone.”

After the opening speech, protocol members visited firms of Bursa that opened stands at the exhibition. Foreign business people mainly from EU, and also from other far countries such as Columbia, India, Peru, Mexico, Brazil, South Africa, Canada as well as Russia, Belarus and Ukraine are joining the exhibition, too.
